The ABC Multi-Purpose Dry Chemical Fire Extinguisher Amerex B500 (5 lbs.) uses a particularly fluidized and siliconized mono ammonium phosphate dry chemical. It insulates Class A flames chemically by melting at around 350°F and coating the surface on which it is applied. It suffocates and interrupts the chain reaction of Class B flames and does not transfer power back to the operator. Among the features are:
